Saying For Today: To give ourselves to God is to give ourselves to Silence, for we are alluding to the same, Who is Love.

You need not do anything.
Remain sitting at your table and listen.

You need not even listen, just wait.

You need not even wait, just learn to be quiet, still and solitary.

And the world will freely offer itself to you unmasked.
It has no choice, it will roll in ecstasy at your feet.

*Franz Kafka (Author, b. 1883)

This morning, in Quaker Meeting, I shared a few words from Silence about Silence. The words are The Silence is Alive. Prayerfulness leads to this Silence, even as it arises from this Silence. Or, we could say, Prayerfulness is a conscious relationship with the Silence. However, this relationship with is within, so communion-in-union.

This Silence is not, as often thought, an inert absence. This Silence is not merely being quiet, such as, in not talking. Silence Itself is vibrant and alive with Life ~ is Life.

Finally, one evolves, by the Grace of Silence, into such surrender to and infusion by Silence that he or she is so in union with Silence that Silence is known equally present in both sound and quietness. This Silence is an absence that holds within Itself everything and, therefore, is Fulness. The Silence may manifest as either a sense of emptiness or fulness. Yet, in actuality, the one who knows the Silence, in being known by the Silence, knows that the sense of emptiness becomes a sense of fulness, for he or she knows the Truth beyond the dualities of emptiness and fulness. And he or she comes to see that sense of is not the Silence, only an experience of the Silence.

Simply put, again, this Silence is Alive and, consequently, nothing we say can define how the Silence is or will manifests within and among us. To give ourselves to God is to give ourselves to Silence, for we are alluding to the same, Who is Love.
